Full job description

Buttercups Day Nursery are seeking a dedicated deputy manager to join our team. The deputy will support the nursery manager in overseeing the daily operations, ensuring a nurturing environment for all children. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the children's lives.

The position is full time all year round, 42.5 hours per week - Monday - Friday.

Minimum age of 22 years old is required for this position as you will be assisting with the school wrap arounds. Clean UK Driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

Assist the Nursery Manager in supervising daily nursery activities, ensuring high standards of care and education are maintained.
Support the planning and implementation of engaging, age-appropriate learning activities that stimulate development across all areas.
Lead and motivate a team of childcare practitioners, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance feedback to foster professional growth.
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and safeguarding policies to create a secure environment for children and staff.
Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, offering updates on children’s progress and addressing any concerns promptly.
Assist with staff rota scheduling, training sessions, and maintaining accurate records of attendance and developmental milestones.
Promote a positive team culture that values teamwork, continuous improvement, and open communication.

Qualifications

Proven experience working with children in a nursery or early childhood education setting.
Demonstrated management or leadership skills within a childcare environment.
Strong understanding of child development principles and childcare best practices.
Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to build rapport with children, families, and colleagues.
Relevant childcare qualifications such as Level 3 Childcare.
Valid driving license is essential to support transportation needs.
A proactive attitude with the ability to multitask effectively in a lively nursery setting.

Pay: £33,341.25 per year
