About the role
Due to continued growth across our Substations business in Scotland, we're looking to recruit experienced Substation Fitters to support a growing portfolio of transmission and distribution projects.
With work taking place across multiple locations throughout Scotland, successful candidates could be based on projects anywhere in the country. As a result, a flexible approach to travel and working away from home is essential. In return, you'll have the opportunity to work on some of Scotland's most significant energy infrastructure projects, developing your skills and building a long-term career within a growing and successful team.
What you'll be doing
- Install and assemble HV plant and equipment on substations from 33kV to 400kV.
- Carry out installation of transformers, busbars, connectors, earthing systems, cables and associated infrastructure.
- Erect aluminium and steel structures and ensure equipment is correctly aligned and secured.
- Perform routine maintenance and assist in resolving on-site installation issues.
- Work in line with all health, safety and quality requirements
- Deliver installation works safely and efficiently.
- Liaise with Site Managers, Supervisors and Project Teams to support project delivery.
- Ensure equipment and materials are available when required.
- Complete site documentation and reporting accurately and on time.
- Report and support investigation of accidents, incidents and near misses.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture on site.
Who we're looking for
- Experience in substation installation works and site procedures.
- CPCS qualification or equivalent.
- Ability to work at height.
- Strong commitment to health and safety.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Experience working in HV substation environments.
- SSE, SPEN or National Grid authorisations.
- MEWP, Telehandler or ROTO certification.
- Experience with transformer and HV switchgear installation and alignment.
