Summary
The role operates on a rotational shift pattern working approximately 50 hours per week, with an hourly rate of £13.40 plus a 17.5% shift allowance and is focused on supporting operational requirements.
To safely and efficiently move trailers, vehicles and equipment around the yard and site premises, ensuring the smooth flow of logistics operations. The Shunter will support warehouse and transport activities, maintain yard organisation, and ensure all vehicle movements are completed in accordance with site safety procedures
Responsibilities
- Safely manoeuvre trailers, units and other vehicles within the yard and around site.
- Position trailers at loading and unloading bays as required.
- Conduct daily vehicle and equipment safety inspections before use.
- Ensure the yard remains organised, clean and free from hazards.
- Liaise with warehouse, transport and logistics teams to coordinate vehicle movements.
- Monitor trailer availability and ensure equipment is correctly positioned to meet operational requirements.
- Complete all required paperwork and vehicle check documentation accurately.
- Report defects, incidents, near misses or safety concerns immediately.
- Assist with loading, unloading and other warehouse duties when operationally required.
- Support general yard maintenance and housekeeping activities.
- Comply with all company Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures.

Essential
- Previous experience in a Shunter, Yard Operative or similar logistics role.
- Proven experience of yard shunting and trailer movements in a busy operational environment.
- Valid and relevant licenses/certifications required for shunting operations.
- Good understanding of transport and warehouse safety procedures.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate with multiple departments.
- Flexible approach to working rotational shifts.
- Reliable, punctual and safety-focused.
Desirable
- Experience within a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- FLT (Forklift Truck) license.
- Knowledge of transport compliance requirements.
Pay: £13.40 per hour
