The Role
As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical projects. Working closely with Contract Managers, suppliers, and clients, you will play a key role in securing new business and ensuring projects are priced effectively. This is a permanent, full-time position based on-site at our Leicester office.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for electrical projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Perform quantity take-offs and cost analysis.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Identify project risks and opportunities during the tender stage.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal teams regarding bid requirements.
- Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings when required.
- Maintain estimating databases and pricing schedules.
- Assist with value engineering and cost-saving proposals.
- Support project handovers following successful tender awards.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator within the construction or electrical contracting industry.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, installations, and construction processes.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and meet deadlines.
Desirable
- Relevant electrical qualifications (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent).
- Experience in commercial, industrial, or large-scale projects.
- Knowledge of current electrical regulations and industry standards.
- Membership of a relevant professional body.
