In this hands-on role you will play a vital part in delivering the highest standards of horse care while supporting the daily running of our busy yard. You’ll also have the rewarding responsibility of supervising and mentoring students by helping to shape the next generation of equine professionals.

Your Day-to-Day Impact
In this role, you will support the Head Groom and Yard Manager in ensuring the smooth and efficient daily operation of the equestrian centre. You’ll supervise students during their yard duties, guiding their learning and helping them develop essential equine skills. Maintaining clear professional communication with liveries, clients, and colleagues is key, as is assisting with the planning and delivery of commercial equestrian activities. You will uphold high standards in stable and field maintenance, and confidently take charge of yard operations when the Head Groom is absent. Championing the welfare of our horses will be at the heart of your work, ensuring their physical and mental well-being at all times. You’ll also prepare horses for use by staff, students, and liveries as needed, participate in regular team meetings, and always adhere to College policies—particularly those relating to safeguarding, health and safety, and equality and diversity.
Is This You?
A genuine passion for horse welfare and stable management
Proven experience in equine care with strong, confident horse-handling skills
Good knowledge of equine health and routine management
Strong communication skills and a team-first mindset
Excellent attention to detail and time management
Positive role model for young people and trainees
BHS Stage 2 (or higher) qualification preferred, or relevant experience is advantageous.
