We are seeking an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer, to join our established team within the Antrim Office.
As an Intermediate Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting our Senior Engineering team in the successful delivery of a diverse range of projects. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical designs, ensuring projects are completed in line with agreed milestones, programmes, and industry standards.
In this role, you will help coordinate and mentor junior engineers, contributing to effective resource planning while maintaining the highest levels of technical excellence, professionalism, and regulatory compliance. You will also support the Leadership Team by coaching and developing engineering staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
Collaboration is central to this position, and you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams across our Antrim, Dublin and London offices, helping to drive consistency, innovation, and knowledge sharing throughout the business.
The ideal candidate will be a competent & experienced designer, we are looking for a self-starter that can manage and develop resource to meet project demands whilst maintaining the highest level of technical excellence and regulatory compliance and work as part of the wider engineering team.
Skills/Experience:
Educated to degree level in Electrical, Architectural or Building Services Engineering or relevant construction discipline and having gained relevant practical experience in a similar role, you will have demonstrable knowledge and experience of Electrical design.
You will be required to produce detail design packages of all electrical engineering systems, including but not limited to:-
· Distribution Systems
· Lighting and Emergency Lighting
· Small Power
· Mechanical Wiring Systems
· Fire Alarms
· Security Systems including Intruder, Access Control and CCTV
· Standby Power Systems (Generator, UPS)
· IT Systems
For this position you will ideally working towards being Chartered or, have experience across a wide range of sectors including Residential, Healthcare, Education and Commercial. An understanding of design software packages and REVIT/BIM would be desirable.
Responsibilities:
The main role responsibilities will include
- Once appointed to a project be able to take and develop a brief from a client
· Carry out surveys on existing Electrical installations and prepare and write reports
· Prepare costs based on clients brief or sketch plans
· Design and prepare detailed engineering drawings for the service installation including:
- Distribution Systems
- Lighting and Emergency Lighting
- Small Power
- Mechanical Wiring Systems
- Fire Alarms
- Security Systems including Intruder, Access Control and CCTV
- Standby Power Systems (Generator, UPS)
- IT Systems
· Carry out design calculations
· Write and prepare Electrical Specifications
· Prepare and collate Tender documentation
· Attend Design team meetings and liaise with other members of the Design Team and Client Groups
· Negotiate and liaise with utility providers
· Analyse tender offers and prepare tender reports
· Attend site meetings and generally administer projects on site
· Prepare monthly payment certificates and generally undertake Cost Control of projects through to Final Account
· Carry out periodic Site Inspections and report on same
· Prioritise workload to ensure deadlines are achieved
· Assist senior staff in preparation and delivery of presentations to potential clients and outside bodies
· Actively implement and maintain the Quality assurance and Environmental Management
