Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and organised Parish Clerk to provide essential administrative support for our Parish Council. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a variety of clerical duties, ensuring smooth communication between parish members and local authorities. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong organisational skills and experience in office administration to contribute to the effective functioning of our parish.
Duties
- Manage and maintain accurate records of parish council meetings, decisions, and correspondence
- Prepare agendas, minutes, and reports using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
- Handle incoming enquiries via telephone, email, and in person, providing exceptional customer service
- Organise schedules for parish events and meetings, ensuring timely communication with attendees
- Maintain databases and spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel for various administrative purposes
- Assist with the preparation of official documents and notices in compliance with legal requirements
- Coordinate with local authorities and community organisations to facilitate parish activities
- Utilise IT systems including Microsoft Outlook for scheduling and correspondence management
- Support the organisation of community events, ensuring all logistical arrangements are in place
Requirements
- Proven experience in office administration or similar clerical roles
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Experience with administrative tasks such as record keeping, report writing, and data management
- Simple Booking Keeping
- Customer service orientation with a friendly and professional manner
- IT literacy with the ability to adapt to new software systems quickly
- Previous office experience is desirable but not essential; training will be provided if necessary
