At Bristol NHS Foundation Trust (BFT), you'll become part of a supportive, innovative pharmacy team, working alongside expert multidisciplinary clinicians across some of the most complex and rewarding specialties in the NHS. This is far more than a rotational post - it's a structured development programme designed to help you build the knowledge, confidence and experience needed to progress your career.
Working across our seven city-centre hospitals, you'll care for patients receiving highly specialised treatment while gaining invaluable experience in nationally recognised clinical services.
Where could your rotations take you?
As part of our Specialist Rotational Pharmacist Programme, you'll undertake 8-month placements in specialist areas including:
Cardiac Services within the Bristol Heart Institute (including anticoagulation and critical care)
Women's and Children's Services at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children
Ophthalmology at the Bristol Eye Hospital
Antimicrobial Stewardship and Medicines Safety
Critical Care and Surgical Service
Every rotation offers unique learning opportunities, with additional specialist experiences incorporated throughout the programme whenever possible.
Throughout the programme you'll receive:
A structured clinical development pathway aligned to the RPS Advanced Pharmacist Curriculum
Dedicated supervision, mentoring and regular developmental feedback
Support towards a Clinical Diploma, Independent Prescribing qualification and ePortfolio where appropriate
Opportunities to lead quality improvement, audit and service development projects
Exposure to highly specialised services within a major regional teaching trust
The chance to work alongside experienced consultant pharmacists, specialist pharmacists and multidisciplinary team
Who we're looking for
We're seeking pharmacists who are ready to build on their post-registration experience and take the next step into specialist clinical practice.
You'll be:
Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
Able to demonstrate post-registration clinical experience within hospital pharmacy or another relevant clinical setting
Working towards, or able to evidence development against, the RPS Foundation Pharmacy Framework
