About Nourish

Nourish Kitchen is a halal meal prep and catering business based in Aston, Birmingham. We produce fresh, flavour-led meals for customers, families, athletes, community programmes and catering clients.

Our kitchen is production-focused rather than a traditional restaurant service kitchen. Food is prepared in batches, portioned, packed and prepared for delivery, collection or catering fulfilment.

We are looking for a reliable and capable chef to join our growing kitchen team. This role could suit someone with experience as a Sous Chef, Assistant Chef, Junior Chef, Production Chef, Catering Chef or Kitchen Support Chef.

The Role

The role will involve supporting weekly food production across meal prep and catering work. You will help with preparation, cooking, portioning, packing and general kitchen duties.

This is a hands-on role for someone who is organised, reliable, comfortable in a busy kitchen and able to produce food consistently to a good standard.

Main Responsibilities

Prepare and cook dishes according to agreed recipes and instructions

Support batch cooking for meal prep, catering orders and other production needs

Portion, pack, label and store food safely and accurately

Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety

Work well with the wider kitchen team during busy production periods

Requirements

Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen - Minimum 3-5 years

Good understanding of food hygiene and safe food handling

Able to follow recipes, instructions and kitchen processes

Reliable, punctual and able to work well as part of a team

Calm, organised and able to work under pressure

Desirable

Level 2 or Level 3 Food Safety and Hygiene qualification

Allergen awareness training

Experience in catering, meal prep or high-volume food production

Experience preparing halal food

Experience with South Asian, East Asian, Southeast Asian or other global cuisines

Working Pattern

The role is expected to be approximately 25 hours per week, with potential for additional hours during busy periods.

Exact working days and shift times will be discussed and agreed depending on availability, production requirements and business needs.

Applicants must be able to reliably commute to Aston, Birmingham.
