Project Manager
This fixed term full time (up to 1.0 FTE - part-time arrangements or secondments can also be considered) post is available immediately until the 31st March 2027. This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working. It is funded by the UK Department of Health and Social Care’s Global AMR Innovation Fund (GAMRIF).
The starting salary will be from £43,482 to £46,049 on Grade F, depending on knowledge, skills and experience.

The MRC Centre for Medical Mycology at the University of Exeter (MRC CMM) wishes to recruit a Project Manager to manage the FAILSAFE project (https://cmm-failsafe.com/), led by Profs Gordon Brown, Director, and Elaine Bignell, Co-Director (Research) of the MRC CMM, which will sit within the MRC CMM main goals (and in particular within aim 3) which are: (1) To promote innovative interdisciplinary research that tackles the major challenges facing the field, facilitated by the recruitment of two outstanding scientists in key areas of antifungal drug resistance and in infectious co-morbidities; (2) To increase capacity in medical mycology in the UK and globally, by delivering a strong cohort of basic and clinical researchers in medical mycology through excellent training programmes focussed at different stages of career development; (3) To support global efforts to tackle devastating fungal infections through establishing and strengthening research and training Units in low and middle income regions of the world which lack bespoke expertise and suffer high burdens of fungal disease; and (4) To promote medical mycology and the activities of the Centre through an ambitious programme of engagement that seeks to inspire future medical mycologists and to challenge and change public perceptions of fungal disease.
The project has been running since January 2024 and ends on the 31st March 2027. It's aim is to develop solutions to tackle Antifungal Resistance and increase availability of context-specific, accessible and affordable innovations for LMICs. The primary role of the Project Manager will be to facilitate the management and success of the project and to co-ordinate the administration of the research. To ensure the smooth running of the project, the MRC CMM is looking for a dynamic Project Manager who will act as a key coordinating point for all aspects of the study. The post-holder will contribute to the strategic and operational requirements of the study, support the extensive network of academic and industry partnerships needed to deliver the work, oversee the distribution of funds, outputs, lead on stakeholder and partner engagement, support the commercialisation pipeline including liaising with experts support as required, and co-ordinate communications, budgets, and the internal and external reporting as deemed necessary.
You will be responsible for the management, co-ordination and delivery of the project, including supporting the leadership team with the recruitment of posts, budget control and monitoring of project milestones and success factors for the funder. In addition, you will lead on the monitoring of project activities and the capturing of outputs such as publications and impact, which will be regularly reported internally and externally. This will include the production of project progress reports to the funder.
