As we continue to grow and expand towards a 70-cover operation, we're looking for an ambitious Junior Sous Chef to join our kitchen team and help shape the next chapter of the business.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a talented Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef looking to take the next step in their career.
Working alongside our Head Chef and Senior Sous Chef, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day operation of a busy, fresh-food kitchen. You'll be trusted to run the kitchen independently for 2–4 shifts each week, taking responsibility for service, organisation, food quality, and team leadership during those shifts.
For the remainder of your week, you'll work closely with the wider kitchen team to deliver consistently high standards and help drive the business forward.
This role is ideally suited to someone with experience in a small, fast-paced, made-to-order kitchen who enjoys variety, responsibility, and being part of a close-knit team.
Key Responsibilities
- Running the kitchen independently during designated shifts
- Leading service and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations
- Preparing and delivering high-quality dishes to a consistently high standard
- Supporting stock control, ordering and waste management
- Assisting with menu development and seasonal specials
- Maintaining excellent food safety, hygiene and HACCP standards
- Supporting the training and development of junior team members
- Working closely with the Head Chef and Senior Sous Chef to continually improve systems and standards
- Contributing positively to a strong team culture and working environment
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Junior Sous Chef, Senior Chef de Partie, or similar role
- Experience working in a fresh-food, made-to-order kitchen
- Confidence leading a service and making decisions independently
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- A passion for quality food and hospitality
- Solid understanding of food safety and kitchen management
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn
- Someone who thrives in a small team environment where everyone contributes
What We OfferExcellent Earning Potential
- £36,000 salary based on a 45-hour working week
- Additional shared tronc/tips worth approximately £6,500–£8,000 per year
- Total earning potential of £42,500–£44,000+ annually
Work-Life Balance
- 45-hour week across 4–5 days
- Straight shifts only
- No split shifts
- Managed TOIL system for any additional shifts worked
- We are actively working towards a consistent 4-day week as the business continues to grow
