Job description

We are looking to recruit talented and enthusiastic individuals to join the Public Facing Services (PFS) department in Hanslope Park, Milton Keynes.

PFS provides important Consular services to British nationals and other members of the public, handling hundreds of thousands of applications a year. The department is dynamic, innovative and fast moving, providing several streams of essential services to
the public unavailable through any other means. Working within this department, you will have a unique opportunity to deliver Consular services in the UK on behalf of the FCDO as part of a friendly, professional, and hard-working team.

Roles and Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be responsible for:
Processing applications at pace across the five service streams listed below, following set FCDO policy and procedures to ensure users receive prompt and professional service. This includes:

➢ Directly supporting British Nationals and others by quickly and accurately processing Legalisation applications and managing customer expectations.
➢ Processing Overseas Birth and Death Registration applications, registering births and deaths, and issuing certificates.
➢ Handling Taking of Evidence overseas cases, ensuring overseas authorities consent to the taking of evidence from their territory via video link.
➢ Processing Service of Process cases, ensuring court documents are served overseas via diplomatic channels.
➢ Assessing Academic Technology Approval Scheme applications for overseas students looking to study in the UK.

Customer Services: Providing guidance, answering queries, and resolving issues for customers across all streams, dealing with them professionally and within agreed timeframes to deliver excellent customer service

Person specification

You must be a British Citizen at the time of application and, if invited to interview, you will need to bring proof of identity (British Passport/Driving Licence etc.) with you.

This role requires you to attain Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance.

For more information about this process, click here. Attaining DV will require you to have been resident in the UK for five of the last ten years. At least one year of this must have been a consecutive twelve-month period. Serving overseas with HM Forces, in some other official capacity as a representative of His Majestys Government or having lived overseas as a result of your parents or partners Government employment counts as UK residency for the purposes of security clearances.

It is essential in your application that you provide evidence and proven examples in each of the following Minimum Criteria, the Behaviours and the Technical question as far as you are able to do so. These responses will be further developed and discussed with those candidates invited for interview.

You will be required to complete a short application form. You will then be invited to complete a Civil Service Verbal Test and a Civil Service Numerical Test.

If you successfully pass these tests, you will be invited to complete the final stage of the application which will comprise of your CV, 500-word Personal Statement and answering two Behaviour questions.
