Position: Manager of the Lowestoft & District Foodbank (“Foodbank Manager”)
Hours: Full‑time (37.5 hours per week)
Contract duration: Permanent
Annual Salary: £28,598
Location: Lowestoft, Suffolk (at premises in Bevan Street and Canning Road, plus occasional working from home)
Introduction
The Rob Clarke Community Trust (TRCCT), Charity Registration No: 1209937, is looking for a compassionate, organised and people‑centred Foodbank Manager to lead the day‑to‑day operations of the Lowestoft & District Foodbank.
This is a role with real purpose. You’ll be at the heart of a charity that ensures no one in our community faces crisis alone - combining emergency food, dignity, compassion and practical support across Lowestoft and the surrounding district.
About the Role
This is a hands‑on leadership role; part operational, part relational and part strategic - perfect for someone who thrives in a busy, people‑focused environment.
Full details are provided in the accompanying “Job Description and Person Specification”, but briefly, the Foodbank Manager’s role is to:
· Lead the daily running of our distribution centres
· Support, encourage and coordinate our incredible volunteer team
· Ensure every person who walks through our doors is treated with dignity and respect
· Oversee stock, warehouse operations and food logistics
· Build strong relationships with referral agencies, supermarkets and community partners
· Maintain high standards of safety, safeguarding and Trussell Trust compliance
· Keep the foodbank organised, welcoming and running smoothly
· Represent TRCCT with warmth, professionalism and compassion

TRCCT operates the Lowestoft & District Foodbank within the Trussell network, but also runs several community projects including:
· Rob’s Café (evening drop‑in)
· Rob’s Garden (community growing)
· FISH (Food in School Holidays)
· Rob’s Friends (befriending scheme)
· Financial Inclusion (in partnership with Citizens Advice)

Who We’re Looking For
Again, full details are found in the “Job Description and Person Specification” document, but basically, you’ll be a great fit if you are:
· Warm, calm and confident with people
· Highly organised and able to manage a busy environment
· Experienced in leading volunteers or teams
· Able to make good decisions under pressure
· Passionate about tackling poverty and supporting vulnerable people
· A clear communicator who builds strong relationships
· Comfortable in a warehouse setting
· Motivated by compassion, dignity and justice
You must hold a Full UK driving licence (as you will be required to drive a van). It would be especially helpful if you have experience in charity work, community work, safeguarding, logistics or crisis support. However, holding the right values matter most
What You’d Be Doing Day‑to‑Day
The key responsibilities are described in the “Job Description and Person Specification” document, but your tasks would include:
· Leading distribution sessions
· Supporting volunteers
· Managing stock, warehouse operations and deliveries
· Inputting Data to a computer system used to record operational activity
· Coordinating supermarket collections
· Responding to client needs with empathy
· Handling the foodbank inbox and phone line
· Working with referral agencies
· Reporting to the Operations Director
· Keeping everything safe, compliant and running smoothly
· Occasional evening or weekend working may be required.
Training & Support
You will undergo an induction programme, receive full training (including in the operation of Trussell systems) and be provided with ongoing development opportunities.
You will benefit from the support of the Operations Director, the Trustees and the entire committed volunteer team.
