St. Agnes Surgery is looking for a motivated and patient-focused NVQ Level 2 Qualified Dispenser to join our friendly and dedicated team.
We are a successful dispensing practice serving a growing patient population of over 9,500 patients across two practice sites. Working closely with GPs, clinicians, and colleagues across both sites, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe and accurate dispensing of medicines while delivering an efficient and compassionate service.
We are seeking an individual who is organised, reliable, and committed to providing excellent patient care in a busy dispensary environment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Dispensing Duties
- Dispense prescriptions accurately in accordance with legal requirements, practice procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Label, assemble, and prepare medicines for patient collection or delivery.
- Process repeat prescriptions in line with practice protocols.
- Respond to routine prescription and medication queries from patients and healthcare professionals.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with GDPR requirements.
- Ensure all dispensing activities are undertaken safely and accurately.
Stock Management
- Monitor and maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Receive, check, and store pharmaceutical deliveries.
- Rotate stock and monitor expiry dates.
- Report stock shortages and discrepancies.
- Assist with ordering medicines and dispensing supplies.
Patient Service
- Provide a professional, courteous, and caring service to patients.
- Handle enquiries efficiently and sensitively.
- Promote a positive patient experience at all times.
- Signpost patients to appropriate members of the healthcare team where necessary.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate dispensing records.
- Support audits, quality improvement initiatives, and compliance activities.
- Attend team meetings and mandatory training sessions.
- Undertake other administrative duties appropriate to the role.
Person Specification:
Essential
- NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent dispensing qualification).
- Previous dispensing experience.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Good IT skills.
- Understanding of confidentiality and data protection requirements.
Desirable
- Experience working within a GP dispensing practice.
- Knowledge of SystmOne and Electronic Prescription Service (EPS).
- NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services.
Physical Requirements
Please note that this role involves:
- Long periods of standing while dispensing and undertaking stock management duties.
- Frequent movement throughout the dispensary and practice premises.
- Occasional lifting and carrying of medication deliveries and stock.
- Working across two practice sites as required.

Pay: £13.50-£14.86 per hour
