Full job description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Transport Coordinator Apprentice. This apprenticeship offers an excellent opportunity to develop key skills in traffic operations, planning, and resource management while gaining valuable experience in a fast-paced transport environment.

As a TC Apprentice, you will support the day-to-day operation of our transport activities, helping to ensure the efficient, safe, and compliant movement of vehicles and goods. This apprenticeship is a fantastic starting point for anyone looking to build a long-term career in the transport and logistics industry.

You will receive full training and support to become competent in the following areas:

Key Responsibilities
Compliance and Safety

Work in line with current transport legislation and company procedures
Help maintain the health, safety, and security of people, vehicles, and goods at all times

Documentation and Instructions

Prepare and provide clear documents and instructions for colleagues in a timely manner
Use technology and operational systems to support daily transport activities

Maintenance Support

Follow the vehicle maintenance schedule, making sure vehicles are cleaned and delivered to workshops.
Work with colleagues to support both planned and unplanned maintenance requirements

Route Planning

Support the planning of safe and efficient delivery routes, considering time and fuel efficiency
Help select appropriate vehicle types, taking into account site access, route restrictions, cost, and fuel use
Enter and update job details on our logistics system.
Follow company processes to ensure all deadlines are met.

Resource Allocation

Assist with allocating suitable vehicles, drivers, and equipment to jobs
Consider sustainability and work with both internal teams and external organisations where required

Monitoring and Communication

Monitor and track the progress of jobs throughout the day using our vehicle tracking systems
Communicate effectively with drivers, colleagues, and customers to provide updates and resolve issues

Complaint Management

Support the handling and escalation of customer complaints
Help protect the companys image and reputation by working in line with company policies and procedures

Personal Skills Required

Strong organisational and planning skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Comfortable using technology and learning new software systems
Ability to work well as part of a team
A positive attitude towards safety and regulatory compliance
Good problem-solving skills and the ability to handle issues professionally

Qualifications
We do not require applicants to already hold Grade 4 (or above) in English and Maths. However, the successful candidate will be required to work towards these qualifications as part of the apprenticeship if not already achieved.

Apprenticeship Details

Duration: 15 months
Qualification: Level 2 Traffic Operator Apprenticeship
Salary: National Minimum Wage for Apprentices
Location: Head office, London court, Bracknell
