Full-time, part-time or self-employed subcontract position
We are looking for an experienced carpet and vinyl fitter to join our long-established, family-run flooring business in North Devon.

About the role
The work will primarily involve fitting carpets and domestic vinyl in customers’ homes across North Devon and the surrounding area.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Fitting carpets, underlay, gripper and door bars
- Fitting domestic sheet vinyl
- Uplifting and removing existing flooring where required
- Carrying out basic subfloor preparation
- Checking materials and measurements before fitting
- Completing installations to a consistently high standard
- Treating customers’ homes with care
- Leaving each job clean, tidy and ready to use
You will be representing S&G in customers’ homes, so reliability, attention to detail and good customer service are essential.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
- Has proven experience fitting carpets and vinyl
- Takes pride in producing high-quality work
- Is reliable, organised and able to work independently
- Communicates professionally with customers and colleagues
- Works safely and keeps a clean and tidy work area
- Holds a full UK driving licence
We are happy to consider applicants whose experience is stronger in either carpet or vinyl, provided they have the right attitude and are willing to develop their skills.
Self-employed applicants will need their own tools, suitable transport and appropriate public liability insurance.
