Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant specialising as a Fryer to join our busy culinary team. This role involves supporting food preparation and cooking processes within a fast-paced restaurant environment. The successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen, maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene, and delivering excellent service to our customers. Previous kitchen or restaurant experience is advantageous, but a keen attitude and willingness to learn are equally valued. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to develop culinary skills and gain practical experience in a professional setting.

Responsibilities

Assist with food preparation, focusing on frying and cooking various dishes according to specified recipes and standards
Operate fryers and other kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
Ensure all food items are prepared in accordance with health and safety regulations
Maintain cleanliness of workstations, including sanitising surfaces, utensils, and equipment after use
Support the team during meal service by preparing ingredients and assisting with plating as required
Follow proper food handling procedures to prevent contamination and ensure food safety standards are met
Restock supplies and organise ingredients to ensure smooth kitchen operations during service hours
Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene policies within the kitchen environment

Requirements

Previous experience in food preparation or working within a restaurant environment is desirable but not essential; a positive attitude and eagerness to learn are important
Knowledge of food safety standards and practices is advantageous
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy kitchen setting
Good organisational skills with attention to detail
Willingness to follow instructions carefully and work as part of a team
Flexibility to work shifts as required, including evenings and weekends if necessary
Basic understanding of culinary techniques related to frying and meal preparation
