Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled CAD/CAM Programmer to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, testing, and optimising computer-aided design and manufacturing programmes to support fabrication and assembly processes. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials handling, and the utilisation of CAD and CAM software to produce precise, efficient machining instructions. The ideal applicant will possess a solid foundation in fabrication techniques, tooling, and mechanical knowledge, with experience in milling, welding, and the use of hand tools. Responsibilities
- Develop and modify CAD models and CAM programmes for various fabrication projects using SolidWorks and other relevant software.
- Generate accurate machining instructions for milling machines and other CNC equipment to ensure precise production outcomes.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Utilise programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to optimise automation processes where applicable.
- Assist with materials handling, tooling selection, and assembly operations as needed.
- Conduct basic troubleshooting on CNC machinery and coordinate with maintenance teams for repairs or adjustments.
- Maintain detailed documentation of programmes, modifications, and production procedures.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and quality control protocols.
Requirements
- Proven experience in CAD/CAM programming within a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- Knowledge of milling operations, tooling, materials handling, welding, and assembly techniques.
- Mechanical aptitude with an understanding of fabrication processes and mechanical principles.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is desirable.
- Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively during programme setup or adjustments.
- Basic mathematical skills for interpreting technical drawings and measurements.
- Previous warehouse or industrial experience is advantageous but not essential.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail to ensure programme accuracy and efficiency.
