Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Forklift Operator and Yard Supervisor to oversee warehouse operations and ensure the efficient handling of materials. This role involves operating forklifts, managing yard activities, and supervising daily logistics to maintain a safe and organised environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, experience with warehouse management systems, and the ability to perform heavy lifting and equipment repairs as needed. 6am - 3pm Mon-Thursday
6am - 12pm Friday
Responsibilities
- Operate forklift trucks safely and efficiently to load, unload, and transport materials within the warehouse and yard.
- Supervise yard activities, including organising storage areas and managing movement of goods.
- Assist with shipping and receiving processes, ensuring accurate documentation and timely dispatch of goods.
- Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs on equipment to ensure operational safety.
- Utilise warehouse management systems to track inventory levels, update records, and coordinate stock movements.
- Handle materials carefully, adhering to safety protocols for heavy lifting and manual handling.
- Oversee the organisation of yard space, ensuring a clean, safe, and accessible environment for all personnel.
- Support team members in load & unload tasks during peak periods or staff shortages.
- Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating forklift trucks in a warehouse or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems and materials handling procedures.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic equipment repairs.
- Experience in shipping & receiving operations is highly desirable.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and prolonged periods of standing or walking around the yard.
- Basic maths skills for inventory counts and documentation accuracy.
- Previous warehouse experience is preferred but not essential; training will be provided where necessary.
- Valid forklift licence recognised by relevant authorities is essential.
