Are you an adaptable, creative SEND practitioner who knows how to build trust before placing demands?
Parity Education is seeking an outstanding Specialist SEND Tutor in the CB1 area. You will design and deliver a highly flexible curriculum for a secondary-aged learner who is currently unable to access mainstream education due to neurodivergent differences and associated social, emotional and sensory needs.
This role is about much more than academic delivery; it is about establishing relational safety and helping a young person rediscover their love of learning. You will be working with a learner who has an excellent vocabulary and strong potential. Like many young people with complex SEND needs, they benefit from predictability, choice and a flexible approach that reduces anxiety and supports emotional regulation. You will use your expertise to create a low-demand environment where the learner feels secure enough to take risks, using practical, active learning to gently rebuild their learner identity and extend their attention span.

Duties
- Design and deliver a bespoke, highly flexible curriculum that bypasses traditional academic pressures, using practical, interest-led and experiential learning to engage the learner.
- Continually assess both the environment and the learner's needs, adapting your teaching, pacing and approach in real time to maintain engagement and emotional safety.
- Act as a consistent, secure base for the young person, modelling emotional regulation, supporting their social interactions, and helping them to understand and manage their own feelings without judgment.
- Maintain accurate, professional records of progress.
Experience
- We are looking for adaptability, emotional resilience, and a proven ability to engage learners who find education difficult.
- Teaching qualifications are desirable but not mandatory. However candidates must have significant experience in SEND, particularly autistic spectrum disorder and SEMH.
- A deeply reflective practitioner who understands neurodiversity and recognises that all behaviour is a communication of an underlying need.
- The professional confidence to prioritise emotional stabilisation and trust-building over immediate academic output.
- Excellent safeguarding awareness and the ability to safely manage dynamic, community-based learning environments.
Pay: £30.00-£35.00 per hour
