Hexcel is currently seeking a Machine Shop Engineer for our Duxford, UK location.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

Maintain & promote a safe working environment within the various machine shops (M/s).
Ensure M/s equipment remains serviced, calibrated and fit-for-purpose.
Be the recognised trainer & key contact for M/s equipment.
Coordinate the resolution/repair of equipment following breakdowns.
Arrange the procurement of specialist fixtures/fittings or components for equipment in the M/s.
Identify & validate new equipment &/or technologies and when approved – coordinate the preparation of Capex documentation.
Manage the commissioning of new equipment/plant and drive the implementation of said equipment/plant.
Carry out routine & specialist machining of FRP composite materials in compliance with relevant requirements, specifications & standards.
Provide machining support to other functions as appropriate.
To undertake ancillary tasks including 5S, LEAN, continuous improvement, etc. – in support of the day-to-day running of the M/s.

Qualifications:

Previous experience machining FRP composite materials advantageous.
Ability to use technologies associated with M/s activities and to have a scientific approach/ understanding.
A good level of technical comprehension to understand written instructions and specifications, as well as being able to interpret relevant drawings.
A hands-on approach to M/s work combined with good attention to detail.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Able to work both independently and as a team member.
Ability to command the personal respect and confidence of colleagues.
