What you’ll be doing
As Bud continues to grow, we're looking for a Product Designer to join our Product Department and add vital design capacity across our platform. This is a hands-on individual contributor role, working alongside our Senior Product Designer and reporting into the Head of Product.
You'll take ownership of design work across defined product areas, supporting the delivery of new features and improvements to Bud's platform. You'll collaborate closely with Product Owners and Developers to turn requirements into well-crafted, accessible user experiences, while learning from and contributing to the design system and practices established by the senior design function.
This role is ideal for a designer who wants to grow their craft, take on real ownership of features, and be part of building out a growing design capability — with support and mentorship from a senior designer close at hand.
Key accountabilities
- Design user journeys and interfaces for assigned features and product areas, producing wireframes, flows, prototypes, and developer-ready UI in Figma.
- Take ownership of UX and UI decisions within your product areas, under the guidance of the Senior Product Designer and Head of Product.
- Apply Bud's accessibility standards, ensuring your work meets WCAG 2.2 AA guidelines.
- Use and contribute to Bud's design system and component libraries, flagging gaps or improvement opportunities to the Senior Product Designer.
- Partner with Product Owners and Developers to understand requirements, ask the right questions early, and support high-quality delivery.
- Incorporate research insights, data, and user feedback into your design decisions, iterating post-launch where needed.
- Participate actively in design critiques, sharing work openly and applying feedback constructively.
- Support the wider Product team's ways of working, following established UX processes and standards.
- Perform any other reasonable duties or tasks as required by the organisation in line with the role's purpose and operational needs.
You must have:
- Solid experience designing UX and UI for web-based products, ideally within a SaaS or platform environment.
- Good working proficiency in Figma, including component-based design and prototyping.
- An understanding of accessibility and inclusive design principles, with willingness to develop practical WCAG 2.2 AA expertise.
- Ability to translate clear requirements into well-considered, user-centred solutions.
- A portfolio demonstrating solid UX thinking and visual design craft across product work.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to explain your design thinking and take on feedback.
- A collaborative, proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and grow within the role.
The Team
You'll sit within the Product Department, working day-to-day alongside the Senior Product Designer, Product Owners, and Developers, and collaborating with QA, Customer Success, and Sales as needed. You'll report to the Head of Product, who will support your development alongside the guidance and mentorship you'll receive from the Senior Product Designer.
