What you will be doing:
In this role, you will undertake Test and Commissioning activities to validate the installation and alignment of Strategic Weapon Systems, ensuring all work is carried out safely, compliantly, and in accordance with Company policies, procedures, and legislation. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across BAE Systems, government representatives, and external contractors to deliver key programme objectives.
Core duties:
Carry out routine Test and Commissioning activities with limited supervision whilst understanding and managing safety implications within a high-risk environment
Liaise and interface with relevant stakeholders to ensure activities are undertaken safely, compliantly, and in accordance with programme requirements
Interpret and understand test documentation, develop and execute measurement plans, and accurately analyse and present test results to the Strategic Weapons Test Group (SWTG)
Maintain full and accurate records of work activities carried out in line with Company policy, procedures, and legislative requirements
Represent BAE Systems during Contractors Sea Trials and support other outworking requirements as required
Use metrology equipment to perform accurate measurements of key Strategic Weapon System features, applying metrology best practices to ensure consistency and precision
Review and provide comment on externally authored documentation, assess changes to existing documentation, and review engineering outputs, including the application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Support and lead Commissioning activities where required, including acting-up duties as Commissioning Project Leader and developing Subject Matter Expert knowledge of Test Section Systems
Essential skills:
HNC/HND qualification in an Engineering discipline or equivalent relevant experience
Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect and interpret complex data, identify patterns and trends, draw logical conclusions, and make evidence-based decisions
Detailed understanding of system processes
Experience using Teamcenter, SAP, or Spatial Analyzer
Experience leading Commissioning activities
The Strategic Weapons Test Organisation Team:
The Strategic Weapons Test Organisation Team is responsible for validating the correct installation and alignment of the Trident II D5 Strategic Weapon System across the Dreadnought Class submarine programme. Working within a small team of highly skilled engineers, you’ll collaborate with wider SWTO colleagues, government representatives, contractors, and internal stakeholders including Dimensional Control and Operations to deliver critical Test and Commissioning activities safely and effectively. Relocation support packages are available across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
