About the opportunity
Ecosave Boiler Grants Ltd welcomes applications from both qualified Retrofit Coordinators and junior or recent graduates looking to develop a career in the retrofit industry.
You do not need to already be a qualified Retrofit Coordinator to apply. Applicants with a degree, HNC, HND or relevant experience in Building Surveying, Architecture, Architectural Technology, Construction Management, Building Services Engineering or another built-environment discipline are encouraged to apply, provided they are willing to complete the Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management.
For the right trainee candidate, Ecosave Boiler Grants Ltd will support and fund the Level 5 qualification while providing practical experience on live ECO4 projects.
Already-qualified Retrofit Coordinators are also strongly encouraged to apply. The position, salary and level of responsibility will be adjusted according to the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Ecosave Boiler Grants Ltd delivers energy-efficiency improvements to residential properties through government-backed schemes, including ECO4.
Our work includes boiler replacements, first-time central heating systems, heating controls, insulation and other energy-efficiency measures.

The role
The position will be tailored depending on the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience.
Trainee applicants
Trainee candidates will join as a Graduate Building Surveyor / Trainee Retrofit Coordinator and work alongside our operations, compliance, surveying and installation teams.
During the training period, you will assist with reviewing property assessments, identifying technical risks, checking project documentation and monitoring installations from the initial survey through to completion.
You will receive practical experience and mentoring from experienced retrofit professionals while completing the Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management.
Once qualified and assessed as competent, you will take responsibility for coordinating your own portfolio of retrofit projects in accordance with PAS 2035, TrustMark requirements and relevant funding-scheme rules.
Qualified Retrofit Coordinators
Qualified Retrofit Coordinators will take responsibility for managing and coordinating a portfolio of domestic retrofit projects from assessment through to completion.
Depending on experience, the successful candidate may also support trainee staff, improve internal compliance procedures and assist with technical quality assurance, audits and remediation.
Main responsibilities
- Review Retrofit Assessments, EPCs, floor plans, condition reports and occupancy assessments.
- Assess the suitability of proposed energy-efficiency measures for each property.
- Identify building defects, damp, condensation, ventilation problems and other technical risks.
- Support the preparation and review of Medium-Term Improvement Plans.
- Review technical surveys, specifications and proposed retrofit designs.
- Liaise with Retrofit Assessors, Retrofit Designers, installers, customers and compliance staff.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with PAS 2035 and TrustMark requirements.
- Monitor projects from initial assessment through installation, handover and completion.
- Check installation evidence, photographs, commissioning documents and customer handover packs.
- Identify missing or incorrect evidence before projects are submitted.
- Maintain accurate project records and audit trails.
- Raise technical concerns and prevent unsuitable work from proceeding.
- Support the management of audits, non-conformities and remedial works.
- Attend properties where additional inspections or technical checks are required.
- Keep up to date with changes to retrofit standards, Building Regulations and funding requirements.
- Manage a growing portfolio of domestic retrofit projects once qualified.
Training and development
For trainee candidates, Ecosave Boiler Grants Ltd will provide support with:
- The Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management.
- Practical training on live ECO4 projects.
- PAS 2035 and TrustMark compliance training.
- Retrofit assessments, improvement plans and project documentation.
- Damp, moisture, ventilation and building-defect awareness.
- Retrofit lodgement and evidence-management systems.
- Mentoring from an experienced Retrofit Coordinator.
- Ongoing professional and technical development.
Trainee candidates must be willing to complete the Level 5 qualification within an agreed timeframe.
Essential requirements
Applicants must either be a qualified Retrofit Coordinator or have a relevant built-environment qualification or background.

Applicants should also have:
- A good understanding of residential building construction.

- Confidence communicating with installers, surveyors and customers.
- The ability to manage several live projects simultaneously.
- Good Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to properties when required.
- The right to work in the United Kingdom.
Trainee candidates must be willing to complete the Level 5 Retrofit Coordinator qualification.
Qualified applicants should hold the relevant Level 5 Retrofit Coordination qualification and be able to demonstrate experience working in accordance with PAS 2035.
Desirable experience
- Residential surveying, housing, construction or property-management experience.
- Experience coordinating ECO4 or other domestic retrofit projects.
- Knowledge of EPCs and domestic energy assessments.
- Experience identifying damp, condensation, ventilation and building defects.
- Familiarity with ECO4, PAS 2035 and TrustMark.
- Domestic Energy Assessor or Retrofit Assessor qualification.
- Experience using floor-planning, surveying or property-management software.
- Knowledge of boilers, central heating, insulation, solar PV or low-carbon heating.
- Experience working in social housing or occupied residential properties.
- Experience handling audits, non-conformities and remedial works.
Previous Retrofit Coordinator experience is not essential for trainee applicants, as qualification support and practical training will be provided.

- Support and train Retrofit Assessors and junior staff.
- Become involved in retrofit design and technical quality assurance.
- Progress into compliance, operations or technical management.
Qualified Retrofit Coordinators may be considered for senior or management responsibilities depending on their experience.
