We are a specialist electrical contractor based in Harpenden.
Most of our work is on heritage and listed properties, larger houses and garden lighting schemes, with some commercial maintenance alongside. The work is varied and the sites are interesting. All of it is local to Hertfordshire and North London.

The role
We are looking for an Electrical Improver to join our team.
This role suits someone who has completed their course, has experience on site, and now needs a company that will finish their training properly.
You will work as part of a two-person team with a qualified Electrician. Teaching and mentoring is part of their job, and you will work with several electricians to help you gain varied knowledge from all of them. You are there to work and to learn. Behind you there is a compliance manager for technical support and an operations manager handling scheduling and client liaison.
The work includes garden lighting installations, rewires and upgrades, fault finding, and maintenance across our commercial contracts.
How we operate:
- Materials are ordered in advance and ready for collection each morning.
- Scheduling and job information are managed through our CRM. You have full details of every job before you arrive on site, and you can see your diary weeks in advance, so you can plan your life around your work.
- Test certificates are completed on site and submitted electronically to the office.
We run an internal training session, the KG Academy, every six weeks, covering new products, installation techniques and practical problem solving. We also support relevant external training and CPD.
Your training
We will support your NVQ Level 3 portfolio. Our certification is completed on site and submitted electronically, so gathering portfolio evidence here is straightforward. When your NVQ is complete, we will support you through your AM2.
Responsibilities
- Carry out installation work with your electrician on residential and commercial projects.
- Assist with rewires, upgrades, garden lighting and maintenance work.
- Develop your inspection, testing and fault finding skills under supervision.
- Ensure all work complies with current electrical regulations and safety standards.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
- Adhere to health and safety protocols at all times during site visits.
What we are looking for
- Level 2 electrical qualification completed. Level 3 underway or completed is preferred.
- Site experience as an improver or electrician's mate.
- Good communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and team members.
- Organised, punctual and with good attention to detail.
- Your own hand and power tools.
Desirable
- A full, clean UK driving licence.
- Experience with external or garden lighting.

Pay: £29,000.00-£37,000.00 per year
