An exciting opportunity has become available to work within Town Ranger Service working in Wilmslow. The position is for one FTE (37 hours) per week Monday to Friday
About You
You will carry out a wide range of grounds maintenance and street cleansing activities, helping to ensure that town and parish areas are clean, safe and well-presented. This will include working across public open spaces, parks, verges, cemeteries and car parks, maintaining high standards in line with service requirements.
You will undertake practical tasks such as litter picking, strimming, weeding, leaf clearance and minor repairs, as well as supporting basic play area inspections and maintenance where required. All work must be completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with relevant policies, procedures and Health & Safety legislation.
You will be responsible for the safe use, operation and routine maintenance of vehicles, plant and equipment, carrying out daily checks and reporting any defects. You will also complete required documentation, including work records, timesheets and health and safety records.
The role involves regular engagement with members of the public, partners and stakeholders, requiring you to deliver a professional, positive and customer-focused service at all times. You will also be expected to attend training and development activities to maintain and enhance your skills.

The successful candidate will have:
- Experience of grounds maintenance, horticulture or street cleansing activities.
- The ability to carry out a range of practical maintenance tasks (e.g. litter picking, strimming, weeding, minor repairs).
- Knowledge of safe working practices and relevant Health & Safety legislation, including COSHH.
- Experience of operating and maintaining tools, plant and equipment safely and effectively.
- Ability to complete basic records and documentation, including work records and health & safety checks.
- Good communication and customer care skills, with the ability to engage positively with members of the public and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to deliver high standards.
- A flexible approach to work, including undertaking a wide range of duties across locations.
- A willingness to undertake training and develop skills, including relevant certifications where required.
