Salary: Up to £26,227.50 - £28,000 depending on experience

Location: Chichester

The opportunity:

If so, we’d love you to consider joining our expanding Digital Trading Customer Office as a Trainee Underwriter. Based in our Chichester office you will need to be in the office for a minimum of 4 days a week during training.

You’ll play a key role in analysing and underwriting new or renewal business, interacting directly with our customers, and contributing to a collaborative and fast-paced team environment. If delivering excellent customer service is something you take pride in, this could be the ideal role for you.

What will you be doing?

Building strong relationships with customers by listening, understanding, and meeting their needs—whether you’re helping to bring new customers on board or supporting our existing ones.
Demonstrating Zurich’s trading and negotiation values in everything you do.
Developing your knowledge of risk and business awareness and learning about our organisation’s risk appetite.
Quoting and setting coverage, negotiating terms and conditions for New Business, Mid Term Adjustments, and Renewals.
Handling inbound and outbound calls, managing tasks and Live Chat, with a focus on winning new business and retaining customers.
Resolving technical queries by referencing policies, procedures, and specifications, including on short-term projects.
Administering and monitoring underwriting rules, guidelines, and insurance regulations.
Being an active member of our large, multi-location Underwriting team.

What are we looking for?

Excellent communication skills.
Basic knowledge of insurance or financial services is helpful, but not essential.
A solutions-focused and service-driven mindset.
Strong team player.
Skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and collaborative negotiation.
