- Are you driven by scaling up breakthrough technology that can make a real-world impact?
At FluoRok, we're building the future of fluorochemical manufacturing through proprietary, HF-free technology developed at the University of Oxford. Our innovations have the potential to make critical battery materials safer, more sustainable, and more affordable, supporting the global transition to electrification and net zero.
This is an opportunity to join a rapidly growing deep-tech company at a pivotal stage of development. You'll work at the interface of chemistry, engineering, and manufacturing, helping transform laboratory innovations into industrial reality.
The Role
Based at our lab and pilot facilities at ARC Oxford, this is a hands-on role at the interface of synthetic inorganic chemistry and process scale-up. You'll take ownership of the day-today process for the scale-up of battery electrolyte materials and play a critical role in technology transfer to engineering and the development of new products.
Requirements
Essential
- First degree (Bachelors / Masters) in Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, or Chemical/Process Engineering + at least 3 years experience in a relevant setting to gain experience on the relevant critical skills detailed below. Be clear in cover letter and/or questions in the application form on real-world and practical examples of the below.
- Demonstrated ability to manage / conduct a process to high-purity materials (down to ppm levels of impurities)
- Demonstrated experience in wet synthetic chemistry using scale-up equipment at 5-50 L reactor scale (e.g. jacketed reactor)
- Demonstrated ability to work under contained / air-moisture sensitive atmospheres
- Demonstrated ability to work safely using hazardous material and chemistries
- Eligible to work in the UK and able to work on-site
Desirable
- Experience in process analytical technology (PAT) and in-process controls (IPC)
- Hands-on experience with glovebox or advanced Schlenk techniques, inert gas handling, and moisture-sensitive transfers
- Engineering and technology transfer knowledge, for example ability to understand and work with piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID)
- Experience collaborating with engineering teams on technology transfer activities, such as handing over scaled processes or troubleshooting with process engineers
Benefits
Salary range £45,000-£60,000 per annum
We offer a competitive benefits package with private pension, private health insurance, group life insurance and share options plan.
