Self-Employed On-Site Manager – Logistics
Location: Inverness
Job Type: Full-Time, Self-Employed
Industry: Logistics / Last-Mile Delivery
Pay: Competitive day rate + performance-related bonus
Schedule: Full-time, including weekend availability
The Opportunity
We are an established and growing logistics company providing last-mile delivery services for Amazon in Inverness, and we are looking for a confident, organised and highly motivated On-Site Manager to take responsibility for our day-to-day delivery operation.
This is a hands-on operational role. You'll be at the centre of the action each day, making sure drivers are ready, routes leave the station successfully, performance standards are achieved and any issues are dealt with quickly and professionally.
We're looking for someone who takes ownership, communicates well and is comfortable managing people in a fast-moving logistics environment.
What You'll Be Doing
Managing the daily on-site delivery operation
Coordinating drivers and ensuring a smooth daily dispatch
Managing driver attendance, availability and performance
Ensuring routes are fully covered and ready to leave on time
Monitoring daily and weekly operational KPIs
Reviewing driver performance and identifying areas for improvement
Managing operational and route issues as they happen
Supporting, coaching and motivating delivery drivers
Assisting with driver onboarding and training
Maintaining high standards of safety and compliance
Communicating effectively with Amazon station teams and our own management team
Planning ahead for changes in parcel volume, driver availability and peak periods
Producing clear operational updates and reporting
Helping us continually improve the performance and efficiency of the Inverness operation
What We're Looking For
Ideally, you'll already have experience managing people within logistics, transport, parcel delivery or last-mile operations.
Previous experience working within an Amazon Delivery Service Partner (DSP) operation would be a major advantage, although we will consider strong logistics managers from similar fast-paced environments.
You should have:
Previous team leadership or management experience
Strong people-management skills
Excellent communication and problem-solving ability
Confidence managing a busy operation and making decisions under pressure
A performance-focused approach with good attention to detail
The ability to understand and work with operational KPIs
Good IT skills, including spreadsheets and operational reporting
A proactive, reliable and professional attitude
A full UK driving licence
Flexibility to work weekends when required
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who takes ownership. When an operational problem occurs, you'll be expected to understand it, make a decision and help get the operation back on track.
