Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Assistant to join our team in Hitchin. This role is vital in supporting our mission to deliver seamless back office solutions and exceptional service to our clients. The Payroll Assistant will contribute to streamlining payroll processes and ensuring data accuracy.

Responsibilities

Payroll processing – broad experience in running various-sized payrolls on a weekly, bi-weekly and monthly basis end to end
Pension – good understanding of all aspects of different UK pension schemes
New Starters/Leavers – the ability to efficiently handle starters and leavers
FPS and Intermediary reporting
Payment files and banking uploads – adept knowledge of successfully uploading and
Processing bank files in various banking platforms
Tax codes – be able to process tax code changes and be able to handle tax code queries
Timesheet review, collation and processing
Statutory pay and deductions – being able to handle SSP, SMP and SPP
Payroll queries – be able to handle all queries relating to wages, deductions and timesheets
To build and maintain excellent relationships with all client

Qualifications

Proven experience with payroll processing and related software such as Sage Payroll, Xero.
Strong data entry skills with high attention to detail.
Knowledge of accounting principles and accounts payable procedures.
Excellent analysis skills for troubleshooting payroll issues.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Prior experience in back office support or recruitment industry is a plus.
