Full job description

Are you an experienced Stress Engineer with a passion for solving complex engineering challenges?

We are looking for a talented engineer to provide technical solutions in the form of test rigs and structures under load for the validation of steam turbines and associated components and assemblies. This is an excellent opportunity to work on technically demanding projects, applying advanced analysis techniques while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams and customers.

This position is offered as a 3 year fixed-term contract.

Main Responsibilities:

Analyse components for strength in line with requirements outlined in contract documentation using FE techniques and hand calculation methods.
Analyse components for plastic collapse, buckling, ratcheting, fatigue, rupture, natural frequency, heat transfer.
Analyse components for loads from shock and operation.
Assist in weld type definition and check for strength and fatigue.
Identify deficiencies in design through analysis techniques and propose improvements to features.
Analyse features and components for safe lifting during build and installation.
Build FE models, write analysis plans.
Report writing and presentation material.
Design reviews, customer presentations and meetings.

Required Experience and Skills:

Experience in FEA packages, ideally Abaqus and ANSYS.
Knowledge of ASME and DNV Codes.
Technical knowledge of dynamic structures and fabrications

Able to work as part of a multi-disciplined team.
Can commit to and keep tight deadlines.
Strong oral and written communication.

Security Clearance

This work is undertaken with UK Defence customers which will require any individual applying for the role to hold or be capable of getting SC Level clearance, be a British Citizen and working or have residency in the UK for a minimum of 5 years. Applicants not cleared will not be accepted into the business until this clearance is provided. Dual passport holders are acceptable if the second country is approved by the vetting authority.
