Job Summary
We are recruiting a skilled Press Brake Setter/ Operator to join our busy Metalwork Department in Livingston.
This role is crucial in ensuring the production of high-quality sheet metal components, adhering to strict specifications and deadlines. We are looking for a self-motivated, results-orientated individual who enjoys working within a team and has a keen focus on attention to detail.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in fabrication and mechanical knowledge, with the ability to operate and maintain press brake machinery safely and effectively.
Responsibilities
- Set up and calibrate press brake machines according to specifications and technical drawings
- Operate press brake machinery to bend, form, and shape sheet metal with precision
- Inspect parts for quality, ensuring they meet specified tolerances and standards
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment to minimise downtime
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders accurately
- Utilise hand tools, tooling, and other fabrication equipment as required
- Maintain a clean and organised work area adhering to health and safety regulations
- Assist in the assembly of fabricated components when necessary
Skills
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the following:
- Proven experience in fabrication, particularly with sheet metal processes.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot and maintain equipment effectively.
- Proficiency in setting up and operating press brake machinery. Previous experience with Amada Brake Press machines is preferable.
- Familiarity with various tooling setups and adjustments for different projects.
- Proficient in basic mathematics for measurement and calculations related to production tasks.
- Experience using common hand tools effectively within a manufacturing context.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (though not explicitly listed, this is a core skill implied by the production of high-quality components).
