SMT Operator
Location: Crawley, West Sussex
Salary: £27,000 - £29,000 per annum (depending on experience)

About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced SMT Operator to join a well-established electronics manufacturing company based in Crawley. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a busy production team, manufacturing high-quality electronic products for a range of industries.
The successful candidate will have previous experience operating Surface Mount Technology (SMT) equipment within an electronics manufacturing environment and will be committed to producing work to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate and monitor SMT production equipment, including solder paste printers and pick-and-place machines.
- Load and change component reels and feeders for production runs.
- Ensure machines are running efficiently and troubleshoot minor faults where possible.
- Carry out first-off inspections and in-process quality checks.
- Identify and report any defects or production issues.
- Read and follow work instructions, assembly drawings and production documentation.
- Perform routine machine cleaning and basic preventative maintenance.
- Work closely with Production, Engineering and Quality teams to ensure production targets are achieved.
- Accurately complete production records and documentation.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment in line with company procedures.
Skills & ExperienceEssential
- Previous experience working as an SMT Operator within an electronics manufacturing environment.
- Experience operating SMT production equipment, including pick-and-place machines.
- Good understanding of PCB assembly processes.
- Ability to identify common SMT defects and quality issues.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Basic computer literacy.
Desirable
- Experience using AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) equipment.
- IPC-A-610 certification or awareness.
- Experience working within ISO9001 or ISO13485 quality environments.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement processes.
