Manchester Homeless Services is a Salvation Army Lifehouse service providing safe, supported accommodation for adults experiencing homelessness across three locations in Manchester:
Discovery House: 54 Every Street, Manchester, M4 7DN,
Independence House: 120 Barmouth Street, Manchester, M11 3TB,
Endeavour House: 235 Broom Lane, Manchester, M19 3LZ
Together, these services provide accommodation and tailored support for men and women aged 18 and over who are experiencing homelessness. The service includes one 10 bed centre and two 15-bed centres, offering a safe and stable environment where residents can begin rebuilding their lives and work towards greater independence.
At Manchester Homeless Services, we take a person-centred approach, supporting individuals with a wide range of needs. Our dedicated team works alongside residents to help them access housing, healthcare, employment and training opportunities, while also promoting wellbeing, social inclusion, and independent living skills. Our aim is to empower people to overcome the challenges that have led to homelessness and move forward positively.
We are looking to recruit a Weekend Day Concierge, internally known within The Salvation Army as a Day Concierge, to join our committed and supportive team. As the first point of contact for residents, visitors, contractors, and external professionals, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment across our Lifehouse services.
Key responsibilities:

Understand and work within the Mission and Values of The Salvation Army, always acting in a professional and ethical manner when representing the organisation.

Provide a welcoming front-of-house service to clients and visitors, ensuring they are signed in or out where required and that queries are handled in a professional and friendly way.

Refer clients, visitors and other enquiries to the appropriate person or service where necessary.

Handle cash and ensure that all accounting records are accurately maintained.

Handle incoming telephone calls and mail appropriately.

Use the CCTV system, following appropriate training, in line with organisational policy.

Work as part of the wider team to help ensure a positive experience at Manchester Homelessness Services.
The successful candidate will have:

Knowledge of the main support needs commonly experienced by people who are homeless or vulnerable.

Motivation to support vulnerable clients to achieve focused and positive life outcomes.

The ability to work within the Christian ethos of The Salvation Army.

Good customer service and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.

The ability to work successfully both independently and as part of a team.

The ability to work in a busy environment and remain solution focused.

A friendly, approachable, professional and committed to ensuring that clients, visitors and colleagues receive a positive experience when accessing Manchester Homelessness Services.
