We currently have a vacancy within our IT department for a Software Developer. The position is office based so you must be able to travel to Washington, NE38 9BZ daily.
A Software Developer at Roundel Manufacturing is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining applications and integrations that support both the Roundel Kitchens and Nixons Kitchens businesses, including products used directly by customers and the public. The role exists to improve the performance, stability, and usability of our application landscape, and to deliver well-engineered solutions that streamline business processes, reduce manual effort, and surface useful insight from our data.
The role carries end-to-end ownership of discrete products or features — from initial requirement through to live deployment and ongoing support — rather than working purely to a fixed specification handed down by others. AI-assisted development tooling is used as standard practice throughout the development lifecycle to support rapid, high-quality delivery.
Main Duties
- Take ownership of features or product areas from initial brief through to live deployment, including customer-facing and public-facing applications.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain applications, scripts, and integrations across the organisation's application landscape, including line-of-business, internal, and external-facing tools.
- Write and maintain SQL Server queries, stored procedures, and views to support reporting, data integrity, and application functionality.
- Develop and maintain modern C#/.NET-based applications and services, following good software engineering practice throughout the development lifecycle.
- Make confident, day-to-day use of AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery, support debugging, and improve code quality.
- Engage directly with the intended users of a product or feature — internal stakeholders, colleagues, or in some cases customers — to ensure what is delivered solves the actual problem.
- Review existing systems and processes, identifying opportunities to improve performance, reliability, or efficiency, and implement agreed changes.
- Provide technical support for escalated or complex application issues, diagnosing root cause and delivering appropriate fixes.
- Develop reporting and dashboard solutions that turn operational data into clear, actionable insight for the business.
- Maintain clear technical documentation for applications, integrations, and changes made.
- Take ownership of issues raised through the helpdesk relating to application development or data, working through to full resolution.
- Contribute to Continual Service Improvement by challenging existing approaches and proposing better ways of working.
- Follow appropriate change control and testing procedures before deploying changes to live systems.
