Role Purpose
The Assistant Production Manager is a vital role within our operations. You will be expected to work directly on the production lines while simultaneously overseeing a small, fast-paced team. Your goal is to assist in ensuring that production targets are met, quality is uncompromised, and the unit operates smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
1. Shop Floor Leadership & Operations
- Active production: Work "hands-on" on the production lines to maintain output.
- Team Supervision: Oversee a small team, ensuring staff are working efficiently and meeting hourly/daily targets.
- Technical Proficiency: Operate all production machinery (following training) and assist with basic maintenance to minimise downtime.
- Labeling: Manage overprinting tasks using specialised printers and Nicelable/Nicelable design software.
2. Quality Control & Dispatch
- Quality Control: Conduct quality checks to ensure every product meets company standards before leaving the unit.
- Product Checks: Perform final stock checks to ensure the physical count matches recorded amounts.
- Health & Safety: Ensure all team members adhere to Health & Safety procedures and company protocols at all times.
3. Administrative & Planning Support
- Production Planning: In the production Manager's absence, take the lead on planning production runs and scheduling work.
- Systems Management: Use Excel and internal computer systems to book products and maintain accurate digital records.
- Inventory Control: Assist with regular stock takes of raw materials to ensure stock levels are correct.
4. Required Skills and Experience
- Management Style: Comfortable managing a small team in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Technical Ability: Mechanically minded; able to troubleshoot machinery and use specialised software.
- IT Literacy: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer systems for data entry and planning.
- Physicality: This is a hands-on role; you must be comfortable being on your feet and working the lines alongside the production team.
- Attention to Detail: Precision is required for stock counting, quality control, and label design.
- Qualifications: Forklift license would be desirable for the role, but not essential.
Hours of Work
47.5 per week 07.30am-17.00pm Monday to Friday.
