Main Purpose of Job
To ensure the smooth, efficient operation of the lairage, and maintain a constant flow of Livestock through to production.
This position will be temporary until the 1st of September, with the potential for a permanent position for the right person.
Main Duties
- Actively promote and ensure Animal Welfare is adhered to at all times.
- Ensure that the unloading of livestock is undertaken by the required Animal Welfare standard, and that the movement of sheep within the lairage is completed in a safe and calm manner without causing stress to the sheep.
- Adhere to company and legislative health and safety rules.
- To dispose of waste cleanly and effectively, and where applicable within the law.
- To keep the working environment to a high standard of cleanliness.
- Ensure a consistent flow of livestock is received in with production needs, timescales adhered to.
- To carry out any other reasonable requests that help drive the business forward.
Personal Qualities
Experience working with Livestock and an understanding of all aspects of Animal Welfare is a must.
The ideal Candidate will be an excellent timekeeper and understand how this fits into the routines within the Lairage. You should be able to work well in a Team but also show initiative when working alone.
Experience driving a Tractor is desireable along with Telehandlers license.
Hours of work are varied so candidates must be able to have some flexibilty, but will range from 0500 - 1500, either 2 or3 days per week flexible to cover annual leave. There is some opportunity for extra hours in the afternoon and some Saturday or Sunday overtime available on occasion.
