Full job description

Overview
The Passenger Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring a safe and comfortable travel experience for passengers, particularly those who may require additional support. This position involves assisting individuals with mobility challenges and ensuring the driver does not get distracted during the journey to school.

Duties

Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking from vehicles, ensuring their safety at all times.
Provide support to passengers with disabilities or special needs, including those requiring mobility aids.
Communicate effectively with passengers to understand their needs and provide appropriate assistance.
Ensure that all safety protocols are followed during the transport of passengers.
Maintain a friendly and professional demeanour while interacting with passengers and colleagues.
Report any incidents or concerns to the appropriate authorities promptly.
Assist in the maintenance of cleanliness and organisation within the transport environment.

Skills

Strong communication skills to engage effectively with passengers and team members.
Excellent customer service skills, demonstrating empathy and patience when assisting passengers.
Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a calm and supportive attitude.
Good organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
A commitment to promoting safety and wellbeing for all passengers.

There are a handful of Sen school runs we do so it might be set or it might be a mixture. Hours will be around 15-20 a week and will be around 7-9 and 14:30-16:30 depending on the run, work is only available during term time although there might be some hours available during the school holidays. Having a Pa badge, enhanced DBS and having done the training with Somerset council before is a benefit but not essential.
