About the Role:
Belfast has become one of the United Kingdom's most exciting technology and professional services hubs, and at NGL Business Digital Ltd, we help organisations turn complex information into reliable business value.
We design modern data platforms, improve information governance and support businesses as they move from fragmented legacy systems to scalable cloud based environments.
We are looking for a Principal Data Architect who can define and guide the data architecture strategy across major client programmes. You will work closely with engineering teams, analysts, security specialists and senior stakeholders to ensure that data is structured, governed and used effectively.
This is not an executive management position. It is a senior specialist role for an experienced data professional who enjoys solving complex technical problems, influencing architecture decisions and mentoring delivery teams.
Why Work With Us?
The Environment:
Our Belfast city centre office provides a professional and collaborative setting with convenient access to public transport, restaurants and local amenities. We support a flexible working approach based on project and client requirements.
Meaningful Projects:
You will work on large scale digital transformation, cloud migration, data modernisation and information governance programmes across a variety of sectors.
Technical Influence:
You will have the authority to shape architecture standards, technology selection, data governance models and long term platform strategy.
Professional Growth:
You will receive support for relevant certifications, technical training, industry events and continued professional development.
Collaborative Culture:
You will work alongside experienced consultants, engineers, analysts and programme managers who value practical decision making and clear communication.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Architecture Strategy:
Define enterprise and solution level data architectures that support business objectives, regulatory requirements and long term technology plans.
Data Modelling:
Create and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models across operational, analytical and reporting environments.
Cloud Data Platforms:
Design scalable data solutions using cloud platforms, modern data warehouses, data lakes, integration services and analytics technologies.
Data Governance:
Establish standards for data quality, ownership, classification, lineage, retention and access control.
Integration Architecture:
Develop approaches for data movement and integration across APIs, applications, databases, third party systems and legacy platforms.
Technical Leadership:
Provide guidance to data engineers, developers, analysts and solution architects throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Stakeholder Management:
Translate complex technical concepts into clear recommendations for business leaders, programme teams and client stakeholders.
Architecture Assurance:
Review solution designs, identify technical risks and ensure that proposed systems align with agreed architecture principles.
Documentation:
Produce clear architecture diagrams, technical standards, decision records and implementation roadmaps.
What We Are Looking For:
Experience:
At least 7 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, solution architecture or enterprise technology, including experience leading architecture decisions on complex programmes.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of relational and non relational databases, data warehousing, data lakes, integration patterns, metadata management and data governance.
Cloud Platforms:
Practical experience with Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform data technologies.
Data Modelling:
Strong experience creating conceptual, logical and physical data models using recognised modelling techniques and tools.
Architecture Skills:
Experience developing architecture principles, reference architectures, technology roadmaps and solution design standards.
Leadership:
Proven ability to mentor technical professionals, lead design reviews and influence teams without relying on formal line management authority.
Communication:
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions to both technical and non technical stakeholders.
Mindset:
You are pragmatic, commercially aware and comfortable balancing scalability, security, performance, delivery timelines and cost.
Pay: £6,135.00-£7,000.00 per month
