Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Shift Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team. This role involves performing essential electrical maintenance and troubleshooting within our manufacturing environment, ensuring equipment operates efficiently and safely. The successful candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, particularly in electrical systems, programmable logic controllers, and schematics, with a focus on maintaining high standards of safety and customer service. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to develop their skills within a professional setting.

Shift Rotation

Hours of work: 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off, repeat (6am - 6pm / 6pm - 6am)

Responsibilities

Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on electrical systems and machinery to minimise downtime.
Troubleshoot electrical faults using schematics, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic tools.
Programme and modify programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to optimise machine performance.
Assist in the installation of new equipment and upgrades, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operation of production lines.
Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times, prioritising safe working practices.
Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to operational issues and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Provide high operational availability, and an efficient breakdown repair service. Diagnosis running faults and ensuring effective repairs and improvements are conducted within minimum time scale.
To liaise with external contractors on specific repairs/maintenance work.
Keep abreast of changes to health & safety and environmental legislation and company policies to ensure defined standards and best practice are implemented.

Qualifications

Proven experience in electrical maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical expertise.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams.
Experience programming or troubleshooting programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Excellent problem-solving abilities coupled with a proactive approach to maintenance challenges.
Relevant qualifications such as City & Guilds or NVQ in Electrical Engineering are preferred but not essential if equivalent experience is demonstrated.
