We're looking for a Sub Agent to join our East West Rail (EWR) team based in St Neots, Cambridgeshire.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our established Trial Trenching and Geotechnical investigation team at the East West Rail project. As Sub Agent, you'll play a key role in managing the technical compliance of the project, working closely with the Agent to ensure safe delivery, on time and to the highest quality standards. You'll be supporting a significant section of the project, coordinating engineering resources and building strong relationships with the team and stakeholders.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Sub Agent, you'll be working within the Trial Trenching and Geotechnical investigation team, supporting them in delivering the East West Rail project safely, on time and to specification. You'll play a key role in managing the technical compliance of the project, working closely with the Agent to ensure safe delivery, on time and to the highest quality standards. You'll be supporting a significant section of the project, coordinating engineering resources and building strong relationships with the team and stakeholders.
Your day to day will include:
- Supporting the Site Agent in managing a significant section of the project and implementing Health & Safety policies in line with Kier standards
- Coordinating the arrival of drilling rigs, excavators and surveying tools, ensuring all required permits are approved
- Overseeing in-situ soil and rock testing, including Standard Penetration Tests, Hand Shear Vane, CBR, and BRE 365 soakaway tests
- Supervising utilities clearance and trial trenching operations to safely identify and expose underground utilities before excavation begins
- Managing cost control, resource recording and quality assurance in accordance with project specifications and inspection test plans
What are we looking for?
This role of Sub Agent is great for you if:
- You have a relevant qualification such as a Degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, or Construction Management, or equivalent experience
- You bring experience in trial trenching and ground investigation works
- You have strong attention to detail and proven people and project management skills
- You demonstrate commercial and contractual awareness with the ability to liaise professionally with clients and stakeholders
- You have a proactive, collaborative approach and enjoy working as part of a team to deliver shared objectives
