The role of the Warehouse Assistant is to support warehouse operations in the daily activities within the warehouse. To do order picking as required to ensure customer orders are met. To ensure that the necessary support is provided to Operations, Sales, and Purchasing Departments, in servicing customer requirements and delivering excellence in product quality and service.
General Responsibilities:
- To assist in the management and control of incoming stock ensuring that they are correct and in good condition.
- To assist in ensuring that applicable raw materials such as adhesives are supplied with a shelf-life date visible and are delivered within 3 months of the Shelf-Life end date.
- To assist in the control of product returns and ensure that they are visibly identified as to their status and are protected from contamination.
- To assist to manage and maintain stock levels (pallet wrap, pallet straps, cleats).
- Ensures that all collection and despatch vehicles are inspected for contamination and safe load condition before offloading or loading.
- Ensures that all pallets are collated for despatch and available for loading and contain the correct pallet labelling where applicable
- To assist in the general warehouse administration of records and files as required.
- To assist to manage and control the stock taking process and provide evidence of completion via records.
- To inform a member of management on health and safety issues or concerns that may arise within the warehouse environment.
- To do order picking as required ensuring customer orders are met. Checking products, quantities, colours, sizes and specifications against the relevant order documentation.
- To ensure that pallets of product are wrapped to protect the product and are visibly identified as to their contents.
- To ensure applicable company procedures are followed and maintained.
- To ensure that the Forklift Truck (FLT) is in full operating condition and reports instances of required maintenance.
- Ensure that a safety checklist is completed before commencement of work at the beginning of each shift.
- To ensure that the FLT is safely placed on charge each evening and battery fluid levels are maintained.
- Maintain a clean, tidy and organised warehouse at all times.
- Adhoc duties as requested by management.
- Ensure that company work wear is maintained in a clean condition.
- Ensure that all company and national Health and Safety systems are complied with and that you do not or will not present a danger to others within the work environment.
- To assist in the support of meeting the company objectives and targets.
- Report hazards, accidents, near misses and damaged equipment immediately.
- Ensure that the “Clean as you Go” philosophy is always adopted and maintained.
- Ensure that the protective clothing and facilities are maintained in a clean and hygienic condition throughout the working shift.
- Ensure that all applicable company procedures are followed and adhered to.
- To ensure that continuous improvement is at the heart of everything undertaken.
- Ensure that vigilance is exercised for unescorted people entering the premises and challenge them as to their purpose and intentions.
- Keep warehouse walkways, access routes and emergency exits clear.
- Assist with general warehouse maintenance and housekeeping.
- Dispose of waste and packaging materials appropriately.
Desirable Experience:
- Experience in Fork/Lift truck driving preferred but not essential.
- Forklift licence Preferred but not essential.
- Warehouse qualification (or equivalent experience).
- General Health and Safety Requirements.
Skills/Attributes:

- Previous warehouse, distribution or manual handling experience is desirable.
- Good level of physical fitness and ability to undertake manual work.

Pay: Up to £13.00 per hour
Expected hours: 42.5 per week
