Job Description
- To inspire and build healthy active futures
- To work in primary schools predominantly across the South Durham, Darlington and surrounding areas delivering curriculum PE, coaching days, and after school clubs
- To work alongside the class teachers with the aim of increasing the teachers’ confidence in teaching curriculum PE
- To lead and support a range of school sport competitions and festivals
- To support the organisation and delivery of Go Well projects
- To be an active and supportive member of the team and contribute to the development of the organisation through feedback, shared learning and sharing ideas
Person SpecificationEssential:

- Level 2 NGB qualification in football (UEFA C) or alternative games based activity or Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Multi Skills Development in Sport or QTS
- Experience of coaching sports/multi skills to 4 to 11 year olds
- Ability to relate to and motivate children aged 4 to 11 year olds
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Self-motivated, committed, flexible
- IT literate
- High standards of personal appearance
- Full and current driving licence and access to transport
Desirable:
- Experience of teaching football/sports/multi skills in a school setting
- Experience of coaching striking and fielding and/or invasion games and/or net/wall games and/or athletics
- Experience of delivering in EYFS
- Experience in mentoring other professionals
- Multiple Sports Coaching qualifications
- Knowledge of Primary Physical Education
- Knowledge of the current school sport landscape
- Experience of delivering or supporting Sport Festivals
- Experience of delivering or supporting community clubs
- Other relevant qualifications ; First Aid, Safeguarding etc
Working Hours:
- Full time (37 hours per week)
- Term time (39 weeks of the year)
- Mon-Fri
- Hours variable and flexible. Typical days could be: 8.30am – 4.00pm/9am – 4.30pm
Salary:
- National Living Wage
- Example: Age 21+ Full Time Equivalent – £24,454.04. (Actual Salary – £20974.04)

Contract:
6-Months Fixed Term – 1st September 2026 to 28th February 2027.
As an organisation, we believe in being open and honest with our team. This role is therefore being offered as a six-month fixed-term contract while the school sport sector transitions to a new national funding model. We are optimistic about the future and, if funding and organisational circumstances allow, our intention would be to extend the contract beyond February 2027, with the potential for it to become permanent. However, we cannot guarantee this until the sector changes and future funding arrangements become clearer.

We pride ourselves on providing salaried roles for our sports coaches. You will be guaranteed 37 hours per week regardless of direct delivery hours in schools in a given week. You will have allocated time for planning, travel time within the working day as part of your working hours and you will receive payments for the business miles you travel within the working day.
Agile working
Our office is based at Chilton Academy (DL17 0PT). We allow our team to decide how to make work, work for them, whether that is, when not delivering in a school, predominantly working from home or predominantly working in the office. We are not a fully remote company and the role will require some travel to our office for staff meetings and training.
