QHSE Compliance Coordinator

Location: Potters Depot Selby, with travel to other Fairfax depots and operational sites
The opportunity
Are you organised, approachable and interested in helping people work safely and consistently? We’re looking for a QHSE Compliance Coordinator to join Fairfax Plant Hire and support our quality, health and safety, and environmental systems across the business.
This is a varied, hands-on role rather than one spent entirely behind a desk. Alongside keeping records and systems in good order, you’ll visit depots, speak with employees and managers, support inspections and audits, help deliver toolbox talks and follow agreed actions through to completion.
You don’t need to arrive knowing every aspect of plant hire. We’re looking for someone with relevant QHSE, compliance or technical-administration experience who is confident working with people and keen to develop their knowledge in a practical operational environment.
What you’ll be doing
· Helping maintain and improve our integrated management system for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
· Keeping policies, procedures, registers, training records and compliance evidence accurate and audit-ready.
· Supporting internal, certification, customer and contractor-assurance audits.
· Recording findings and following corrective actions through to verified completion.
· Carrying out scheduled depot and workplace inspections and working constructively with managers on improvements.
· Maintaining incident, near-miss, environmental-event and action records, and supporting investigations.
· Coordinating inductions, toolbox talks, refresher communications and training-expiry reminders.
· Supporting risk assessments, RAMS, safe systems of work and legal-compliance records.
· Preparing clear QHSE information for management reviews and continual-improvement projects.
· Working with teams across our depots, workshops, yards, transport, maintenance and hire desks.
What we’re looking for
· Experience in QHSE, compliance, quality, health and safety, environmental or technical administration within an operational setting.
· Strong document-control and record-management skills.
· Confidence using Microsoft 365, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
· Clear, approachable communication and confidence engaging with people at all levels.
· The ability to organise competing priorities, work accurately and see actions through.
· A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between depots and operational locations.
Helpful, but not essential
· NEBOSH General Certificate or an equivalent health and safety qualification.
· ISO 9001, ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 internal-auditor training or practical audit experience.
· Experience in plant hire, construction, engineering, transport, manufacturing or a similar operational environment.
· Knowledge of lifting operations, workshops, transport compliance or environmental controls.

Pay: £29,176.04-£36,000.00 per year
