Job Overview
South West Metal Finishing is looking for a reliable and hardworking Blaster to join our Paint Division for both day and evening shift. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with blasting or industrial surface preparation experience to become part of a busy, professional, and growing team.
Working within our Paint Division, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of metal components and products to the highest standards prior to coating and finishing processes.
Pay and Hours
£12.71 per hour rising to £13.40 after probationary period.
Two vacancies
Day shift Monday to Thursday 6:00-14:30 Friday 8:00-14:00
Late shift Monday to Thursday 14:00-00:00
Responsibilities
- Carry out abrasive blasting of metal components and fabricated products.
- Prepare surfaces to required specifications prior to painting and coating.
- Operate and maintain blasting equipment safely and effectively.
- Inspect work to ensure quality standards are achieved.
- Follow health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times.
- Assist with the movement, loading, and unloading of materials as required.
- Maintain a clean and organised working environment.
- Work closely with colleagues in the Paint Division to meet production schedules.
Health and Safety
- Comply with all company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Correctly use personal protective equipment (PPE) provided.
- Operate machinery and equipment safely and in accordance with training received.
- Report near misses, accidents, hazards, and unsafe conditions promptly.
- Handle paints, chemicals, and waste materials in line with environmental and safety requirements.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean and safe workplace.
Requirements
- Experience in abrasive blasting, shot blasting, or industrial surface preparation.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong awareness of health and safety requirements.
- Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated.
