At our site in Berwick Upon Tweed we have a Hygiene Operative position open
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday 21:00 – 05:00, flexibility required with regards to start times)
What does the role entail?
As a vital member of our Hygiene Team, you will play an important role in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency across the site. Your key duties will include:
· Carry out cleaning and housekeeping duties across site facilities—including canteens, offices, and laundry areas—to ensure all spaces meet internal hygiene requirements and third‑party audit standards.
· Perform routine and deep cleaning of production areas, machinery, and equipment to ensure the site is ready for production to start on time and operate without hygiene‑related issues.
· Use cleaning tools, chemicals, and equipment safely and in line with company Health & Safety procedures, ensuring the correct PPE is worn for every task.
· Complete all hygiene paperwork and cleaning documentation accurately, legibly, and on time in accordance with company standards and audit requirements.
· Maintain clear two‑way communication with Production Management, Engineering, and the Hygiene Team to ensure issues are reported promptly and cleaning tasks are completed efficiently.
· Support the strip‑down and detailed cleaning of machinery, as well as any additional tasks assigned by the Hygiene Manager or Supervisor to maintain overall site hygiene standards.
Who are we looking for?
You should be able to carry out repetitive tasks in both hot and cold environments, maintain strong attention to detail, demonstrate good hygiene awareness, and be willing to learn and develop within the role.
