H B Panelcraft Ltd is one of the North West's leading accident repair centres, repairing cars and light commercial vehicles for major manufacturers, insurers and fleet customers. Due to continued growth and changes within our management structure, we are looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Bodyshop Manager to lead our busy workshop.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced bodyshop professional who enjoys leading people, driving performance and improving operational efficiency.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of our bodyshop, ensuring work flows efficiently through Mechanical, MET, Panel, Paint, Quality Control and Valeting.
You will lead and support the Workshop Controller and departmental supervisors, ensuring high standards of productivity, quality, communication and customer service are maintained throughout the repair process.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operation of a busy accident repair workshop.
- Drive productivity, efficiency and workshop performance.
- Manage and support the Workshop Controller and departmental supervisors.
- Monitor workflow and ensure vehicles progress efficiently through each stage of repair.
- Oversee workshop quality standards and reduce repeat repairs and comebacks.
- Lead production meetings and resolve operational issues.
- Coach, motivate and develop workshop staff.
- Manage performance, appraisals and day-to-day people management.
- Work closely with the Operations Manager, Estimating Team, Parts Department and Quality Control.
- Monitor workshop KPIs and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Ensure customer commitments and delivery dates are achieved wherever possible.
- Promote a positive culture built around accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience managing a busy bodyshop or accident repair centre.
- Is an excellent organiser with strong leadership skills.
- Can motivate and hold people accountable in a fair and professional manner.
- Has a proven ability to improve workshop productivity and efficiency.
- Understands modern vehicle repair methods and workshop processes.
- Is confident making decisions and solving problems under pressure.
- Has excellent communication skills and enjoys working as part of a management team.
- Is passionate about delivering outstanding quality and customer service.
ATA accreditation or previous experience within a manufacturer-approved repair centre would be advantageous but is not essential.
