Duties
- Lead and facilitate a variety of outdoor activities such as wildlife and farm life husbandry, horticulture, wood work, arts and crafts.
- Ensure the safety of all participants by adhering to established safety protocols and conducting thorough risk assessments before activities
- Provide clear instructions and demonstrations to teach new skills effectively and confidently
- Foster an inclusive environment that encourages teamwork, respect, and active participation among people of all abilities.
- Maintain equipment and activity areas in excellent condition, ensuring all gear is safe and ready for use
- Monitor participant progress, offer constructive feedback, and adapt activities to meet different skill levels and needs
- Communicate clearly with participants, parents (if applicable), and team members to ensure smooth operation of all outdoor programs
Skills
- Strong teaching skills with the ability to explain techniques clearly and adapt instructions as needed
- Excellent communication skills to foster a positive atmosphere and ensure safety protocols are understood
- Ability to remain calm and decisive in challenging situations or emergencies outdoors
- Passion for outdoor education, adventure activities, or environmental stewardship
- Physical fitness and stamina to lead active sessions in various weather conditions
- A proactive attitude with a commitment to creating fun, safe, and educational outdoor experiences
