Experienced Gardener – Dundee
Green Palm Dundee is an established gardening company based in Dundee, providing high-quality garden maintenance to domestic and commercial customers across Dundee and the surrounding area.
We pride ourselves on doing things properly. We want our customers' gardens to look their best and aim to provide a reliable, professional service that customers can trust.
We're now looking for an experienced and capable gardener to take responsibility for an established garden maintenance round.
The role
This position would suit someone who genuinely enjoys gardening, knows their plants and takes pride in leaving a garden looking noticeably better than when they arrived.
You'll work both independently and as part of a small gardening team, visiting a mixture of domestic gardens and commercial grounds.
Your work will include:
- Hedge cutting and shaping
- Pruning shrubs and small trees
- Plant identification and appropriate seasonal pruning
- Weeding and border maintenance
- Planting and general plant care
- Grass cutting, edging and lawn maintenance
- Lawn feeding and specialist lawn treatments
- Seasonal garden maintenance
- Identifying problems within customers' gardens and recommending appropriate work
- Ensuring sites are left clean, tidy and to a high standard
This isn't a role where you'll simply be given a lawnmower and a list of addresses. We're looking for someone with enough experience and knowledge to look at a garden, understand what needs doing and take responsibility for getting it done properly.
What we're looking for
You must have:
- A minimum of 4 years' professional gardening experience
- Good horticultural and plant knowledge
- Experience carrying out pruning, hedge cutting and general garden maintenance to a high standard
- Experience using professional petrol-powered gardening equipment safely and confidently
- The ability to work independently without needing constant supervision
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage an established maintenance round
- A professional and friendly manner when dealing with customers
- A full UK driving licence
It would be advantageous if you also hold:
- PA1 and PA6 pesticide qualifications
- Chainsaw/cross-cutting qualifications
- Experience safely towing and reversing trailers
However, we're more interested in finding an excellent, reliable gardener with the right attitude and experience than someone who simply has a long list of certificates.
