Overall purpose: We’re looking for an Electrical / Mechanical Technician to help run and evolve our specialist high-voltage (HV) and high-current test laboratories. This is hands-on, practical engineering at the heart of a fast-growing sector: electrified transport and the “more electric aircraft” revolution.
You’ll help grow our facilities that operate up to 30kV and beyond 1000A, delivering everything from short-duration withstand tests to long-running life assessments where insulation performance is proven over time. Testing is often performed in challenging conditions such as low pressure and elevated temperature, with high-frequency, high-current injection used to simulate demanding real-world duty cycles.
You’ll play a key role in keeping our experimental labs running safely and efficiently, working alongside Test Engineers and other technicians to set up rigs, execute tests, and continually improve how we work. You’ll also help us look after customer hardware—often cutting-edge components for next-generation aircraft and electric vehicles—so attention to detail and pride in workmanship really matter.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, set up and check test equipment, fixtures and instrumentation for planned testing (in line with work instructions and risk assessments).
- Support the build, improvement and documentation of new test rigs, fixtures and lab capability.
- Carry out routine lab readiness activities (housekeeping, basic checks, consumables) to keep the test areas audit-ready and safe.
- Assist with the execution of tests by operating equipment under the direction of a Test Engineer and/or via written procedures.
- Return test areas to a safe, tidy, controlled state after testing (isolation, signage, storage, housekeeping).
- Handle and manage customer test samples and items during testing (care, traceability, identification and return to storage).
- Carry out routine safety and compliance checks (e.g., PAT support, weekly checks, first aid kit readiness) and escalate issues promptly.
- Support calibration, maintenance and fault-finding activities so our equipment remains accurate, reliable and fit for use.
Why aerospaceHV?
We’re a small, dynamic team with a strong focus on doing things properly: safe working, high-quality data, and practical engineering solutions. Because we’re specialists in a rapidly evolving field, you’ll get variety, responsibility and the chance to develop quickly—supported by colleagues who are approachable, knowledgeable and invested in your growth.
- Hands-on work with high-voltage and high-current equipment used to validate next-generation electrified aircraft systems.
- A supportive environment with on-the-job training and opportunities to build specialist HV test skills.
- The chance to make a visible impact in a growing company where good ideas are listened to and acted on.
